OBX BOEM PUBLIC Hearing

We are so thankful that BOEM will come to our little oasis and hear our pleas. This is YOUR TIME to SPEAK UP! There will be a press conference at 4:30. We would love to have such a huge show of support that there is not enough room in the Ramada for all of us. Please come learn, share your concerns, and make a big impact that we won’t stand for this. Not now, not ever!

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is holding an “open house” meeting regarding their 5 year plan (2017-2022) for off shore Oil & Gas development in the Atlantic Ocean. Now is the time to speak up! Let your voices be heard to protect your job and our beautiful beaches.

Comments must be in written format and are encouraged to be personalized and from the heart, not a form letter.

We encourage everyone to participate in this meeting to enable citizens voices be heard in this process.

*Please arrive at 4:30 for a press conference at Comfort Inn (next door to event location at Ramada Inn) and wear BLUE to show our solidarity in protecting our Ocean! We are also challenging everyone to invite 5 friends to attend as well.

This is an open house meeting hosted by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). This meeting is an invitation to submit comments on the 2017-2022 offshore leasing program. BOEM is getting ready to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to examine the direct, indirect and cumulative impacts of oil and gas activities off the N.C. coast. Offshore areas are parceled into “blocks” that are categorized and sold to oil and gas companies. Your comments influence what is evaluated in the EIS, and whether or not sections of our offshore waters may ultimately be included in BOEM’s 2017-2022 leasing program.
